For a while I really liked the mytharc episodes, but they started confusing me. I felt like "the truth" about what all was happening kept changing and at some point I gave up trying to keep track. I always felt a little guilty about that. XD
I loved Paper Hearts! I definitely remember reading some fan discussions and got the impression everyone hated it, so I'm glad to see I'm not alone.
And last week's episode was pure joy! I loved the twist. And was so happy for Kumail Nanjiani that he got to be in an episode, his X-Files Files podcast is so good. And Rhys Darby was perfect for the creature.
Exactly. The mytharc is fine in the beginning, but then it just gets bogged down by itself. Ugh.
And Paper Hearts is great! Not alone at all.
As for last week's episode, it was just...perfect. If the miniseries ends up not cutting it for me (and I'm suspicious this will be the case) overall, I'm going with that episode as my series finale. The last scene with "Nice to meet you" and all that? Bliss. Vindication. Lovely.
I've only seen the pilot so far. :| I'm home alone this evening (well, with Axton), so might set myself up with the big TV and have a marathon. Will have to remember to come by and check out your linkage after.
I love having X Files back so much. It fills me with such joy. It's like an old childhood friend has come back into my life that I never wished to part with.
I have found the bulk of the new episodes only so-so, much like the later seasons, though I do enjoy the nostalgia factor.
I hated the William storyline then and it's no less stupid now. (Though even that was a damn sight better than the Emily storyline - any time Scully has a baby, it just doesn't work for me.)
But the Were-Monster saved this miniseries from being the second movie for me (okay, so not that actively bad, just not good, I suppose), and I'm grateful to it for that and for its last scene, which is my finale if the rest of it is awful.
This week's episode was decent, too, despite the heavy handed William stuff. At least it had a monster. The rest of them have been mediocre.
Edited to change icons, because it's all about Darrin Morgan, bay-bee.
