So, I don't follow spoilers, as I know you guys know. I don't watch trailers or previews, and I like to be surprised by guest spots if I can.

But knowing when movies are coming out? Well, that's okay.

So, Marvel's Phase Three? Well, I took a look.

And the ultimate piece being the Infinity War? Well, DUH. Obvious for so many reasons.* And also, fuck yes. Good thing this one is two movies, though. While there are some stories that shouldn't be split into multiples (I'm looking at you, Hobbit), how to get the Infinity War into just one would be a bit of a mystery.

*Went back and read this entry of mine and am reminded of all those reasons in the best way.

Oh, and a Carol Danvers movie? Captain Marvel? Be still my heart for a female superhero lead.

And did I mention fuck yes? *grin*

Hell yes. Plenty of "Talk Nerdy to Me" parodies out there, but I really enjoyed this one.

Also? The scene in the preview? Dragon heartstring here. Duh. ;)

And meant to share it, because it cracks me up. An exchange between Mara Wilson and Wil Wheaton:

I love this piece of art. I first saw it over on Wil Wheaton's bloggity-blog, and I immediately saved it for posting later. Alas, tonight I am cleaning up my desktop, so here we are. Please clickie to embiggen, as the phrase goes. It's well worth it. See how many characters you recognize! It's a fun game, and I'm completely stoked to see Stargate represented. The message matters to me, too. The idea of being one of the ones that "get it" and finding other like-minded folk just makes me smile. Of course, the fact that my favorite ninja turtle is right up front doesn't hurt my enjoyment of this one bit, either. *grin*

The Ones I Picked Out of the Crowd... )

[livejournal.com profile] poisonyoulove introduced me to this via her LJ shortly before my Twitter feed blew up with it for good reason. It's absolutely wonderful. I heartily recommend you watch early and watch often. Unless you don't like laughing, I guess.

*And not to spoil, but there's a hammer. Nathan Fillion's hammer. Honest.

Not.

You are: GAMBIT

Gambit-04

Cuz, I mean, well... duh. While I have a long-standing joke with [livejournal.com profile] lemonpiefirefly and a few others that I am, in fact, Iron Man, let's face it. I'm not quite as clean-shaven as Tony Stark, so to speak. My conscience, like his, was only grown as an adult, but it allowed me far more leniency in my younger years than Tony's did. Also, I'm not quite that smart and I am a Francophile, so while I will always be Iron Man to Beck (though she does have a soft spot for Gambit, too, so...), Gambit suits me just fine.

And now for more thought than you ever thought possible from a silly quiz. Regarding sex, sexuality, and gender. It does, in fact, get better. )

Yes, I know most have already seen it, but I just have to share.

Finally, the Avengers trailer!

Now, I could spend a lot of time typing out my thoughts on this, but they are nearly exactly mimicked by my fellow SFX blogger Alasdair Stuart, so I will share his reaction instead. Go here for his blog on this bit of lovely.

The too long, didn't read version of said blog that I just adore. )

Marvelous!

It's rare that I see a film more than once at the theater.

Yes, I saw Star Trek XI thrice, but it's not a common thing.

That said, I just may have to go see the one I saw yesterday again. And maybe again after that. Which film? The one with the boy wizard? No, though I quite loved Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part Two, as well. No, this one, well, I've been waiting for this one. So much so that I thought it couldn't live up to my expectations. Unfortunately, that seems to be my luck this year. (I'm looking at you, Thor. Yes, you were perfectly acceptable, but you were missing that certain "je ne sais quoi" that would have made you special.) So anyway, about that... I was wrong. This movie was wonderful. So, which one, then? Why... CAPTAIN AMERICA!

Dude. I've been excited for this film for a while, but it surpassed every expectation I had. The costumes were drop-dead gorgeous. The score was pitch-perfect. The fight scenes were things of absolute beauty.
Chris Evans nailed Steve Rogers perfectly, and the transformation of his body via both digital effects and his own efforts should be commended. Hugo Weaving was utterly brilliant as Red Skull. And Dominic Cooper pulled off Howard Stark pretty damn well, too. The ending didn't wimp out but instead touched upon what a brutally tortured existence life is for Steve Rogers.

Yes, like Harry Potter, the film form of Captain America took some liberties with canon, but I'm relatively unburdened with Cap canon, so I enjoyed the hell out of the movie even with the few tweaks I noticed. (Um...Bucky? Love the costume reminiscent of your first, but weren't you...oh, never mind. It works just fine this way.)

But seriously, this movie was great fun, and I'd love to watch it again. I mean, after all, I haven't mentioned my favorite part.

*ahem*

The shield went "TWANG!" when it hit stuff! :D

We're good, people. Excelsior!
