Jimmy Buffett attended the last space shuttle launch. I knew that. What I didn't know is that he played a few songs afterward. Nothing too exciting - Changes in Latitude, Changes in Attitude, Margaritaville, Brown-Eyed Girl, and....Somewhere Over China. Nice!
Just a semi normal person...
He'd be home when he got back ...
It's a real live fairy tale...Put a little distance...Between causes and effects...Between fact and fantasy...
How I would love to drive the shuttle...Just to feel the engines roar... *sniff*

When I woke up yesterday, I checked Twitter, as I always do. Therefore, before I left my bed, I knew Jimmy Buffett had had an accident in Australia. BuffettNews and BuffettWorld were both down due to high traffic, but as usual, Twitter did not fail me. Throughout the day yesterday, Twitter and Radio Margaritaville kept us Parrotheads posted about Jimmy and his condition. By the time I saw the video of his fall on television while I was getting my truck inspected and the two other ladies in the lobby freaked out about it, I was able to tell them that Jimmy was okay.
But it sure is nice to hear him say that himself. Thanks for this, Jimmy.

wabbit's winter wonderland 3, day 6
Dec. 30th, 2010 11:49 pmI'm tired tonight, after a very odd day at work, so I've just got a picture for you. There's a fic in progress, but it's getting nigh on midnight, and while I think I could finish it, I don't want to rush it. I also don't want to spoil my streak, though, so here ya go. This one is for all you folks that don't get the pretty stuff even a bit. Yes, snow is work, but it sure makes some lovely, don't you think? And if ever you find your way to this door, rest assured I'll open it for you.

( And remember, snow can be awfully fun, too! )

Saturday Night
May. 1st, 2010 09:36 pmLookie what's on my TV right now, courtesy of UStream, the fact that I live in the future, and the fact that I moved GeeBee out of his den for a bit. (He is the most powerful computer in the house by far, so...swapped out with the Mac for this.) Fins up from Nashville and going around the world!

Jamaican Newton Marshall is still in the Iditarod. He's in 48th position (out of 57 mushers) currently. Defending champion Lance Mackey is in the lead, but it looks to be a true race to the finish this year, with Hans Gatt and Jeff King right on his tail! The three leaders are out of White Mountain, which means there's only a quick breeze through Safety before it's on to Nome! Lance is two hours ahead at last update, but King and Gatt's teams are running a bit faster. Eep! Even though I don't think anyone can catch Lance, it ain't over 'til it's over, and this one's a nail biter! (Though I must confess that as long as Marshall and Jonrowe finish, I'm good. I'm also rooting for Blake Freking to finish, since his wife is a real sweetheart and a colleague. Some of you may remember her from this entry last year.) Head over here for more updates, and for a new fun video staring Newton, head on over to Margaritavision here!
Mush, Mon!

This perfectly safe for work vid won't embed, but I promise it's worth it. Dog sledding, Jamaica, and my favorite song from Jimmy Buffett's latest album. (Actually, it just might be in my top ten or twenty Buffett tunes ever, so... yeah.) What's not to love? Click the link, then click on "watch" under the "Mush Mon" section on theright left right. (That was just for you, blackbird.) Oh, and if you'd like to follow the Jamaican musher (or anyone else) in this year's Iditarod, you can go here for race updates. You can visit the official site of the Jamaican Dogsled Team here.

Dec. 30th, 2009 01:11 pmOh, I found some serious fun over on Margaritaville today, and I just can't help but share.
See, winter doesn't look the same everywhere, but Santa sure is adaptable!
And sometimes his sleigh just won't cut it. For beach sand, he recommends Jamaican Dogsled Team transport. It works well for tropical climes, but harks back to his northern roots quite well!

- Jimmy Buffett, Jolly Mon

Today, we celebrate a very special birthday, and Palm Beach International Airport has supplied the perfect gift. Jimmy Buffett is now imortalized in waypoints in the IFR departure procedure out of PBI (Palm Beach International). The waypoints include BUFIT, JIMEY, UTLEY, FINNS, PYRUT. I can dig that. Happy Birthday, Jimmy!
Click the pic to embiggen and all that. From MidnightFlyer on BuffettNews. Thanks, mate! Fins up!
And yes, this is wabbit's winter wonderland day two's post. Happy and Merry to everyone! Especially Jimmy!
