I so thought I was done playing on the interwebs tonight, but, well, I'm not.  Why?

BECAUSE THE ROUND OF EIGHT HAS JUST OPENED FOR VOTING AT THE SECRETARY OF GEEK AFFAIRS SITE!

Whoa.  Sorry.  Got a little excited.  But who can blame me when these exciting battles are coming up?

Watch as Kaylee Frye dukes it out with Simon Pegg for the Do'urden crown while over in Bombadil John Hodgman takes on Gabe and Tycho!  Feel your pulse pound as Joss Whedon does battle with the sleeper Felicia Day and cheer as Wil Wheaton takes on Steve Wozniak fresh on the heels of his victory over none other than Stephen Hawking!  That round showed us every vote counts!  Make your voice heard!  Go vote!

It was soooo tight. Wil pulled ahead at the last minute to win with 52% of the vote. It had been 51% or even 50-50 for most of the race.

I think I have to agree with the guy who said this:
At some point I suppose it should matter to me that Stephen Hawking is not a US citizen and therefore is probably not going to be allowed to hold this office - should it ever exist and the appointee chosen via online voting tournament. Since I am torn here, I will say that the time for this to matter is now.

Fair enough. I'm sure Stephen will understand indeed.

Yes, I know all too well how tight it was -- I've been gnawing my nails for days!

And here I thought I was the only one checking obsessively!

I love my friends!

p.s.-the citizenship point is moot in the case of Pegg because Kaylee isn't a US citizen, either.

True, Kaylee isn't a US citizen -- or even an actual person. But the SGA isn't an actual post, either. I have no qualms against appointing a fictional individual (or a dead one) for a fictional role. I just think Wil's the greatest. And that it would be really, really fun to see Joss Whedon have to go up against Kaylee. I'm just like that. *G*

Oh, I actually quite agree. I was just saying that so it didn't look like I contradicted myself by voting for Pegg but saying Wil had the edge over Hawking (all other things equal, which they are not in my world) due to citizenship.

I agree that would be fun, but OMG SPACED! I had to vote for Pegg.

Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead, and once again OMG SPACED!

He's probably the only person that can be forgiven for bumping Pauley out of the Scotty role. *grumble, grumble...still wanted Pauley, though...but I do love Simon, so I'll live*
