So: I came across this song a few years back during the American Presidential election. It popped into my fron today, for reasons that will become obvious if you watch the vid. And because I'm a generous person, I'm going to share my earworm with you! Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Oh, and there are several more "musical" versions of this song on the web (it's by the Corrigan Brothers, AKA Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys) but I just had to go with this guy - it takes guts to do it this way, and it's just, well...old school. This Ulster Scot approves! (Yes, I'm "Scotch-Irish," as the American term goes, and this reminds me of my granpa! When I was young, he sang like this a lot. And I mean a lot.)

*giggle* "a few years back", eh? Darlin', we elected him less than a year and a half ago.

I'm not sure which I love more -- the name "Hardy Drew and the Nancy Boys", the revolutional screed on the wall, or the deliciousness of the singalong being not only in tune and on key, but in harmony!!

Well, I am about 95% certain that I came across this song during the election. It just didn't have the last verses. And thus it was two years ago. Thus, a couple of years ago. So there. *sticks out tongue*

And yes, I love this fella. As I said, there's "better" versions out there for the "tune," but you gotta love this guy!

Okaaay . . . as I count it, early November 2008 to mid-March 2010 is one year and four months.

The only reason I balk and split hairs is that I've been going the rounds with a numbskull acquaintance who's been frothing and fomenting over the 'failed presidency' starting when said presidency was all of 9 months old. Accordingly, it's become an automatic twitch any time the current presidency is represented as being older than it is. So hopefully you can pat me on the head and tell me to mellow out.

(The specific kind of frothing has been along the lines of "Why hasn't he solved all the problems of the universe yet, huh? HUH?? Don't tell me he inherited a monumental mess, don't tell me solutions don't happen overnight, don't tell me he's had a lot of work to do, because I want my universal peace and prosperity RIGHT NOW DAMMIT."))

And yeah, you're probably right. I probably remember wrong and came across it around election time. Still, though, that does seem longer ago that it was for me. A lot has happened since then!
