This made me cry, and smile, and then cry some more. That rarely happens to me.

If you care about women at all...if you like Patrick Stewart at all...if you have a soul in you...

Go read this now.

As a women who has been in not one but two abusive situations I can totally understand what he is talking about. Views have to change, the police response to calls of domestic volience must change. The first time, I didn't call the police, I just left, the second time my roommate called the police and the ambulance, and even though he had broken my jaw and 5 ribs I was told that he was "just blowing off steam" Granted that was almost 30 years ago and hopefully things have changed for women, but until all domestic violence is taken seriously we need men like Patrick Stewart to speak out. Thank you for posting this.

You're welcome, my friend, and as for the rest, well...exactly. We have to fight this. We have to speak out and be brave. That's not easy, and it'll be a long time coming, but we must fight.

Very powerful article. I was crying as I read it.

You know, emotional violence can be just as devastating as physical violence. As a child of one admitted alcoholic (who died young due to alcohol abuse) and one who never admitted it, the arguing and the shouting can be just as horrifying as an actual blow.
