Forgive me for double-posting, but you can't talk cliffhangers without this guy, so I have no choice.
After all, resistance is futile. Article is still
here.

If you need it, there's an episode summary, with air dates and some wicked anti-spoiler devices(damn straight!)
here!

Now, that's how you handle spoilers!

Date: Jun. 12th, 2009 11:28 pm (UTC)Putting out fake spoilers like that, thought? Would ruin it for us spoiler-lovers. So in trying to not ruin their idea of how things should be experienced, they're ruining ours! That just seems mean. Just sayin' . . . :-P
Not sure I agree with the rest of the list. Angel in particular had a couple better cliffhangers than the one they chose. And so did Lost.

Date: Jun. 12th, 2009 11:54 pm (UTC)Since I'm in a mood tonight, I'll give my frank opinion.Actually, I won't. I have not a single nice thing to say about anyone who spreads spoilers (not even one charitable thought), so I'll stop here.Oh, and in 1990, no one knew what the internet was.
As for the list, no one will ever agree with everything, but it does say that they only allowed one cliffhanger per show, and it specifically mentions that they did that so that Angel wouldn't be in every slot. Having never seen Angel, I can't speak to that.

Date: Jun. 13th, 2009 08:33 am (UTC)Their classic Who entry was passable -- but given that every single episode of Doctor Who ends with a cliffhanger, except the episodes that conclude stories (1 in 4, on the average), it's a very, very full slate there.

Date: Jun. 13th, 2009 10:23 pm (UTC)Mine has to begin with the end of the second season of Blake's 7. It may have been the first SF series ever to have a season-ending cliffhanger -- the galaxy is being invaded by very hostile aliens, help is hours away (and the help is coming from the Bad Guys), one hero's badly wounded and the others, in a single ship, are committed to a face-off against the entire alien fleet. The final lines went about like this:
Vila: "This is insane!"
Avon: "When has that ever stopped us?"
Jenna: "They're in range."
Avon: "Fire!!"
(cue credits)
There wasn't even a "To be continued".
So which season ending would you nominate from Stargate?
