I somehow have only just found out that Daryl Mitchell, the young man who played Tommy Webber/Laredo in Galaxy Quest, is paralyzed from the waist down after a motorcycle accident in 2001.  I probably missed this fact because Mr. Mitchell tends to act in productions that aren't exactly my cup of tea in general, but that's beside the point.  When my husband recently saw a familiar face in a preview for Michael Strahan's (yes, that Michael Strahan) new television show, he looked up the casting info and hit me with this.

Now, motorcycle accidents happen, and people are paralyzed every day.  Some of them happen to be more famous than others.  That's a simple fact.  But that's not the point here.  The point is that Daryl Mitchell is still acting.  A fair bit, if his IMDB is anything to go by.  Mr. Mitchell is married, has four children, and works for charity groups dealing with spinal cord injuries.  And he still acts.

Go him.

Go him indeed! That is an encouraging story.

This icon is in no way indicative of my feelings on the matter, but since I did have something GQ related, I figured it worked. ;-)

I'm pretty sure I snagged this from a batch of SGA icons, so yeah. Anyway, the snark is not conducive of Thor. ;-) I find this icon handy for days that I get ticked off at work. Obviously, I haven't had too many of those lately. lol

Too true on Thor. And I take it you are among our ranks as the unemployed? (I am pseudo-unemployed in that I have no full time job, but I've put together enough temp jobs to get through the summer, so one month at a time, mate!)

And today is my first Saturday off in forever, so I'm sooo catching up.

I am indeed unemployed. Have been since I got back from Chile in December. However, I was able to be here to help take care of my grandpa when he was dying, so I believe it was providential that I haven't gotten anything heretofore because let me tell you, my skill set, experience, and talent make me a rather fabulous candidate, dahling. ;-) Plus, I've got God on my side, so I say... economy schnonomy!

But in all seriousness, I have a really excellent opportunity going on right now that I'm very hopeful about. With any luck, I'll actually have a super great job as of early next week. :-)
