Once you eliminate the impossible...

...whatever is left, however improbable, must be the truth.
And that improbability is that I loved Star Trek a second time!
Not only that, I have re-ordered my list, at least for tonight: Undiscovered Country > 2009 > Kahn > Insurrection > First Contact >> Nemesis >>> Voyage Home > Generations > Search for Spock > Final Frontier > The Motion Picture.
Seriously, this movie is made of win and that is really all there is to say.
They didn't get me the first time, but this time the end credits nearly made me cry, and everything held up flawlessly and I just may have to go see this yet again. I'm not one for doing that, but...it's just that enjoyable of a movie.
I didn't watch ST: TNG when it first came out because I thought there was no way you could replace Captain Kirk and have Star Trek still be Star Trek. You know what? I was wrong. TNG is a damn fine show. I had serious misgivings about this film because I thought a pseudo-prequel just wouldn't work and I thought it looked entirely too 90210 to be any kind of decent. Know what? Wrong again.
This movie makes me want to reread every Star Trek novel I've ever read (a long list) and read every one I've ever missed (a short list). It makes me want to have Star Trek movie marathons and sit and watch the series for days on end. It makes me proud and happy and entirely full of squee at my Trekkie status. In short, it works, it's fabulous, and I fucking love it.
Live long and prosper.
That is all.
This cut is essentially spoiler-free, but be warned of a dirty word or two and some serious squee!
