She didn’t have much experience with them.

After all, she hadn’t had a normal childhood, filled with trees and games and play.

No, her life thus far had been steel and glass and anything but play.

So they hadn’t done her much good.

Still, she knew how to use them.

Every Caitian did.

And at a time like this, their emergence might seem almost involuntary – but it was not. Not for her. This was very much intentional.

A moment later, the Drednok was dead, and her claws were resheathed.

She’d killed it.

And given the chance, she’d do it again.
