Summary: Rok has a plush toy during one scene in Amok Time. An idea on its origin.
Note: Written for the Thirty Days of Prodigy prompt of “Murf.”

At first, Janeway was frustrated.

But when Rok pointed out that brains work better after a break (something the computer told her) and that recreation was important for maximum efficiency (a direct quote), the hologram shut up.

In fact, she usually shut down, which Rok appreciated.

After all, she could probably have had the computer do this for her, but after her own frustration trying to provide exact descriptions and just because, she wanted to do it herself.

Not with a hologram standing over her shoulder.

So here she was, alone as usual, about to do the last part.

She was nervous, but took a deep breath and started.

About halfway through, she grunted, destroyed her attempt, and started over.

It took two more tries to get it right.

But then the smile on Rok’s face mirrored the one she’d created.

On Murf – her very own plush Murf, in fact, made by her own hands.

Janeway complimented Rok when she saw it, and Rok appreciated that, but at the end of the day, that didn’t matter.

Because Rok had made Murf.

And if she could make Murf, she could save Murf.

And everybody else.

Time to get back to work.
