Category: Double Drabble. David/Patrick. Patrick Focus. Missing Scene.
Time Frame: End of Season Four.
Spoilers: Takes place during “Merry Christmas, Johnny Rose,” but no specific spoilers.
Summary: Despite how it may seem to outsiders, David Rose is fiercely independent. He’s also not in the habit of asking for things. Not when it really matters. So when he does, Patrick will move heaven and earth to help. Or at least some boxes. (AKA Patrick’s contribution to the holiday party.)
Note: Written for the random word prompt of “occasion.”

Patrick wasn’t sure he knew where they were.

But he’d be damned if he didn’t try to find them.

After all, it was Christmas.

But honestly, it was so much more than that, because David had asked.

And despite appearances to the contrary, David so rarely asked for anything.

So here he was – flat on his stomach and reaching under his bed to just barely touch the corner of what he thought was the right box. It shifted, but he still couldn’t grab it. Not until he wedged his head under the bed, too. But then it finally came loose, and he pulled it (and himself) out from under the bed.

He sat up and opened the box.

And there they were. The vintage garlands his mother had given him.

Patrick smiled and ran his hands over the red and silver beads.

Yes, this would do nicely.

Or at least he thought so.

But it wasn’t until David gasped with delight and got those super big eyes he only got when he was truly excited by something that Patrick was sure of that.

Of course, that’s also when he knew that, date aside, this was truly a special occasion indeed.
