Summary: To anyone else, it would have gone unnoticed. Even Hugh didn’t notice at first. But once he did, then there was no denying it.
Note: Another Ricky story, because I just can’t help myself.  Sorry this one is two days late. I told you it would happen occasionally. ;)

Hugh didn’t realize what Paul had done until it was too late to do anything about it.

And really, what would he have done?

He’d told Paul no; that he didn’t have to; that things were fine as they were.

As if any of that had mattered.

Because here he sat, in temporary quarters, not quite alone, thanks to a surprise companion.

“I can’t believe he snuck you into my luggage,” he said, addressing the ancient toy in his hands.

He shook his head, then chuckled. Leave it to Paul to make Hugh miss him immediately. Hugh sighed, then went to set the bear on the bed.

Halfway there, he paused, seeming to think of something.

Then he held Ricky up to his face and inhaled.

After a long moment, he smiled.

Ricky had been with Paul for the past six weeks. And Paul could deny it all he wanted (not that that was much), but Hugh knew he slept with Ricky. And now he had proof – because there was no way Ricky would smell so much like Paul otherwise.

Hugh’s grin turned wistful. He still missed Paul.

But suddenly, the next six weeks didn’t seem so long after all.
