Still flying? Damn right!
Feb. 19th, 2009 08:59 pmTrekkies have long held the honor, and rightfully so, of naming this nation's first space shuttle. Now, Browncoats have their chance to claim a place amongst the stars. Serenity is one of the names being bandied about for Node 3, a new module for the International Space Station.
NASA describes part of Node 3 like this: "The cupola’s six rectangular windows and one circular window overhead will show a panoramic view that will be unrivaled by any other spacecraft ever flown." And they think the new module's name "should reflect the spirit of exploration and cooperation embodied by the space station, and follow in the tradition set by Node 1- Unity- and Node 2- Harmony."
Now, I don't know about you, but I think Serenity fits that bill pretty damn well. Go vote, Browncoats. Be heard!
Full article and a chance to vote on the new name is here.

Star Trek and Serenity are more about societies, and that makes them different. Sure, you have adventure and all that, but the point of the stories is not in the same vein.
I don't know...just different.
