The Feels Regarding Fringe
Mar. 18th, 2015 03:12 amI have many words now that I've finished watching Fringe, but the odds are that many of them will never be written, simply due to life, so for now, I borrow from another:
"Part of the beauty of a long-form story... a TV story... is that the characters become as much yours as they are mine. And you dream of them in a different way than I do. So when we do get to an end, necessarily, we're making a choice. I'm hoping not all the characters die, so there's a possibility that even though the camera stops rolling, those characters live on." - Joshua Jackson, regarding the end of Fringe.
Damn straight, Peter. Damn straight.
Oh, and Fringe? Welcome to my wheelhouse. I have a feeling you'll live there for a long, long time.

Date: Mar. 19th, 2015 03:52 pm (UTC)1-I wanted to watch Fringe when it was on, but for some reason just...didn't/it was in the later seasons when I heard about, etc. When it came to Netflix last year, I was literally counting down the days, but again, something happened and I didn't get to watch it until now. But wow. What a ride! I couldn't get off if I had to. I'm amused to know you did the same.
2-"There aren't enough words in my vocabulary to state how much I loved the show and the characters." Yes. This. Walter is an amazing character. The father/son dynamic played here, and the casting for that pair is beyond perfect. Adding in Olivia and Astrid, it's...well, damn near perfect.
3-"The writers treated the characters (and the audience) with respect from start to finish." I struggled a little with seasons four and five, but the more I digest them, the more I can forgive four its eccentricities, and I'm falling for five like the others (though nothing compares to two for me). And this is why, I think. Respect is exactly it. The characters were true to themselves. And again, Walter. Just... Walter. And Peter at the end. GUH.
4-I'm tickled you've been enjoying the fics. I sometimes think no one is out there anymore, and it's nice to know that's not the case. And the fact that you're rewatching now? Well, my work here is done. *grin*
5-but most of all, THIS: you are an old Stargate pal, and though we interact rarely, here we are, bonding over another uncommon love of a common (though not so common after all) thing. That is a wonderful thing, and it makes me smile. Thanks, devra. Don't be a stranger, k?

Exactly.
Fanfic changed my life, and I make no apologies for that.
