Peter had never bought into his mother’s theory.
She’d told him he was special, and though he’d smiled politely, he’d called BS from day one.
But now? Now he knows he was wrong.
Because Olivia was scared.
He shakes his head, disgusted.
With everything they saw on a daily basis, she never blinked. Monsters, alternate realities, kidnapping, whatever; even shooting her “partner” barely ruffled her feathers.
And yet, she was afraid of him.
Peter snorts, realizing this is par for the course in his life.
He is a scientist, after all, and he knows that in order to establish the truth, you have to test the theory.
He’d done so, unintentionally and despite the personal cost, and he’d proven his mother right.
He was unique, and it hurt like hell.
The scientific method was a bitch.
