You're stranded on a desert island. The upside? You have a fancy solar-powered ipod that can play video. The downside? You can only choose five episodes (maximum of one hour in length) from five different TV shows.

There are rules: choosing an episode that's only a half-hour long doesn't allow you any more room, and you can't give up one show to make room for a two-parter from another. You have to choose five different shows, and you're only allowed one episode from each.

Well, no, Home isn't really funny. Unless you laugh when you're shocked. That's what I enjoyed about the episode, it fills me with "OMGWTF?" And I love when shows get away with that. Nobody else likes it?
Maybe I am a horrible person. After all, I'm half-Reaver (on my dad's side).

Ah, now I understand. Home is indeed television that pushes the envelope. My experience has been that it is too much for most folks. Just too far past the comfort level. Sure, the UberScully conversation is fun, and all the Andy Griffith jokes bring it a bit of desperately needed forced lightheartedness, but all in all it's just a horrifying experience to watch Home. Horrifying, not terrifying. Big difference. Home disgusts, not freaks out.

I know one fan who stopped watching after Home aired. I know many who just can't take it even now and haven't watched it since it first airing or skipped it entirely. It's the only episode of TXF to be not aired/banned by the BBC. I myself fell into the 'seen it but won't watch it again' camp for a long time. Since then, I have watched it a few times, but it's never going to be one I seek out. That's for sure. Only one episode of TXF scares me (Irresistible) but I watch that one. Home, on the other hand, just no.

That said, it is an extremely well done episode, and it is an amazing example of what you can get away with when you have the power of popularity on your side. It does break every boundary. And for that I do respect it and your choice of liking it.

I think part of the reason Home always stood out for me is because I'd heard about it getting banned. I react strongly against that kind of thing. ;)
And I kind of enjoy getting grossed out/freaked out, to a certain extent.

Oh yeah, Irresistible is seriously creepy. Moreso because it's the kind of thing that could actually happen.

I have only one thing to say about Irresistible:

I, too, don't like banning and often read books just because they've been banned, etc. I like to know what I'm dealing with when presenting an argument against banning and censorship. That said, I saw Home long before I knew about its BBC issues...and yeah..not for me. Frankly, neither is Irresistible most times. Too scary. I don't do anything scary. TXF, in general, doesn't scare me a lick, so I can watch it, but I don't do any horror movies, etc. And I never will. Not for me. TXF is a bizarre aberration for me. Scary is not my style. Esp not scary that can happen. Scary stupid (like SLiTHER) is fine. Scary real? NO.

*sticks fingers in ears and closes eyes and refuses to ever, ever, ever see Silence of the Lambs even those she knows it's a great piece of cinema...never, ever, ever*

That's totally understandable. I like scary, but there are certain things I won't touch, like the Saw movies. I don't like torture.
Silence of the Lambs is extremely creepy, and the book freaked me out even more than the movie.

Wait . . . are you saying Slither can't happen?! heehee

Of course it could, and one day it will. Only it will be a virus or a catastrophic event, or...any number of things.
