In my humble opinion, if you've never read Wil Wheaton's books, you're missing out on some fun.  If you've never heard him read one of his stories, you're missing out on a  great deal of fun.  And if you've never seen what a fan can do when she combines some interesting pics and music with Wil reading one of his stories, you're missing epic fun.  Allow me to present Blue Light Special, as only Wil can tell it, complete with accompanying video by the wonderful amity1976.  Parts two and three to follow.

All I had was a Leia barbie doll and when I removed the donut things from her hair I never could get it back. So, I cut off her hair. Ah, the travesty! how could I do that?

This vid takes me back, too. I lived and breathed Star Wars for years. My son has a Millenium falcon and I'm far more excited about playing with it than he is.

I only had about half a dozen figures, but I had the record versions of the stories, and I played it, in role-play form, every single day.

I love the 'nine year old version of fanfiction' line!

the "shoot second, GODDAMMIT!" version.

so much Wil Love, so little time.

Re: figures, didn't have many "actual" toys since my dad was an enlisted Airman, but Jen had some Barbies and they got dressed up appropriately (often toilet paper or lined notebook paper...sometimes colored in with the scented Mr Sketch markers... Forest Leia was mint and cinnamon) and my stuffed animals were the leading men, Wookies, and Ewoks. I mean, my Main Man PANDA was already in black and white, so...

I died at that line. Awesomesauce.

As for your lack of figures, that's what you get if you don't have brothers.

I never had a Barbie, and neither did my sister. We did have a Bionic Woman doll and I was all about bigger dolls on occasion, but while Kelly wasn't too into action figures, I had a handful of hand-me-downs from John and Brett. And John bought me a few, too. I'm pretty sure he bought me Chewbacca, in fact, before Chewie's tragic demise. My brother quite simply rocked.

Oh, and Leia's clothes of mint and cinnamon? Greatness. Mr. Sketch. A generation's introduction to substance abuse...sigh...
