I thought, maybe, for once, I’d get to sleep in.

It’s the slow season, after all.

This time of year, the houseboat is pretty quiet.

Come to think of it, it still is.

But the persistent tapping on my shoulder is too annoying to let me sleep.

I crack one eye open, and there he is: Jack Dalton.

I swear to God, if I ever find out who taught him to pick locks, I’ll strangle them.

Oh, right. That was me.

Guess I made my bed.

Now it’s time to lie in it.

It’s really too bad that’s a metaphor.
