When I tell you I’m flying the city, your reaction confuses me until I remember that you weren’t there when Colonel Sheppard insisted that I be re-evaluated for ATA proficiency after I was revived from the stasis chamber.
You weren’t there when I aced every one of his tests.
You couldn’t know that I wasn’t surprised by my performance.
You weren’t there when I made a thousand mistakes much worse than nearly shooting down a helicopter as I was forced to use Ancient technology to do Michael’s bidding.
For two years, you simply weren’t there, Rodney.
So you don’t know.
You don’t know how the activation of an Ancient console sometimes still gives me chills as I remember what I had to do to stay alive.
You can’t know how badly it hurt when Michael withheld my injections if I failed in whatever task he gave me.
You don’t know how quickly that made me an expert in all sorts of new skills.
And you don’t need to know. Maybe one day, I’ll explain things; but not today.
Today, you only need to shut up and take me at my word.
Easy-peasy. I could do this one in my sleep.
