We have lost a great villian...sigh...

Ricardo Montalban dies at 88
By BOB THOMAS, Associated Press Writer
1 hour and 6 minutes ago

Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who became a star in
splashy MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in
TV's "Fantasy Island," died Wednesday morning at his home, a city
councilman said. He was 88.

Montalban's death was announced at a meeting of the city council by
president Eric Garcetti, who represents the district where the actor
lived. Garcetti did not give a cause of death.

"The Ricardo Montalban Theatre in my Council District -- where the
next generations of performers participate in plays, musicals, and
concerts -- stands as a fitting tribute to this consummate
performer," Garcetti said later in a written statement.

Yeah, I just saw that. Then I had to find The Pic for my icon. See we're thinking along fandom lines, as is only right.

*respect for the villain*
a little longer article that broke the news to me...

Funny thing...when Michael got in from work tonight, I asked him if he knew who died today. And he responded with this:

"Welcome to Fantasy Island."

To which I replied:

"KHAAAAN!"

And he said:

"Funny, where we went with that."

And I said:

"Yeah, funny."

I never saw Fantasy Island that I recall. I simply didn't watch TV then, really. But I do remember seeing Star Trek II at my uncle's house...funny, that.

Yeah, saw it a little in my stay-up-all-night summer days in middle school (just 'cause...swam on team all morning then went home and slept a couple hrs till pool open again then went back, swam all day, then took a nap then stayed up watching crap like Three's Company, Love Boat, etc between reading or drawing or whatever, and Fantasy Island was thrown in there some. I don't recall ever watching a whole episode, wasn't my thing, but caught the occasional "welcome" shot).
WHew! Back from the land of run-on sentences....

I remember watching Spock die. I hated Khan so much-the mark of a great villian.
