No cable, huh? Good for you. I wouldn't have it except for the hubby. I have everything I need (including Serenity) on DVD, which I can watch on my computer. But I'll be watching tonight just for ratings and such.
Ah, I understand, though I would also understand if you just chose not to have a TV. As for computers, I got a new one for my birthday last year, and, well... *contented sigh*
Much higher on my priority list than TV. (In fact, I'm considering adding a Blue Ray drive to my computer, but not considering getting a Blue Ray player.) My old computer (rest in peace, Carson) was about 8 years old...and, well...one day it decided to not play videos or let me edit LJ posts...it was time.
As for turning on extra, we're a one TV house, so...
OH! Wait! No, we're not! There's one down in the basement! I could do that! *grin*
I'll probably watch to spite the Alliance to see how much they cut out. But I don't think ratings are affected unless you've been selected by one of the companies that keep track of these things . . . unless the DVRs all report back to the cable companies without our knowledge or something.
A couple years ago, I got selected by Nielsen and for one week had to write down every single thing I watched . . . I was deliriously excited. :)
What I've been told is that watching LIVE counts but recording (DVR, etc) does not. But it's all extrapolated, etc, as far as I know. Still, watching makes me feel better.
That's okay. I miss having it like, three times a year.
This is one of those times, granted. Major <3 me some FF/Serenity... Oddly, I bet The Networks are a little more interested in Joss at the moment after Dr H.
*phtttttbt* Take THAT, networks! Or maybe SciFi will buy it and ... no, don't go down the grumpy Sanctuary road right now Beck. No good can come of it ... *grumble...internet show...no DRM...free community...fan-focused...fan participation...grumble*

I do too, although I've discovered that some of my DVDs don't get along very well with my computer. See above about "thinking of fixing that."
Represent!
Turn on an extra TV set for me so that you get double the credits?
