Glass Half Full - Of Words
Nov. 8th, 2008 06:39 pmSo, I hit halfway today! WOOT!
AND...I listened to a Jimmy Buffett concert on Radio Margaritaville (he does broadcast them all live for free, you know) and got to hear Jimmy dedicate another Last Mango In Paris to Captain Tony, which made my night. I actually went out to the kitchen and found the last of my true Jamaican Rum Cream and lifted a toast to the old men...yep, both of them. Jimmy and Tony. (Here's hoping that Jimmy doesn't join the Captain for a good long time, though.) My favorite bit from Jimmy tonight was in the intro to said song, describing the old man himself:
"Cannonization? Maybe not. But cool? HELL YEAH!"
And that's a wrap.

Date: Nov. 9th, 2008 07:56 pm (UTC)All hail the demoness LPFF!
And I'll let you write a drabble or two if you like, as a break, to flex a different set of muscles, as long as you promise to get back up and go back to the marathon aftwards. Ain't I generous?
Hugses,
Beth

Date: Nov. 9th, 2008 08:09 pm (UTC)Well, the drabble turned out to be a 350ish word ficlet, and it's in the sitting and waiting to post stage (if I still like it in a day or two). It also spawned two quickie sequels that I haven't done yet. *grin*
I also cleaned up some WIPs and organized them-getting two more to a postable level and making the others more workable for later (1 Firefly, 1 SGA, and 5 SG-1 WIPs right now, some of which are very old, plus a ton of bunnies and the monster X-over fic). Then I called it a night after playing some games for a bit.
It was back to the marathon today, thank you very much, oh generous one. I didn't start until about 1300, and I'm at 2809 new words and flowing well. I have to stop for a bit, though, and get the dogs to the park. That activity is never optional on a day off, so off I go! I'll be back in a few hours.
Oh, hey-I learned something, too! Since starting this, I've found that I can write about 1K an hour when I'm in writing mode. But if I disconnect the internet entirely, it jumps to 1.5K.
Imagine that.
