OhBoyOhBoyOhBoy! It's the other Doctor Beckett!
I found the entire Quantum Leap panel from Dragon*Con online! I missed this panel simply because I didn't see it in the program and I was so bummed! But through the miracle of the internet, I can watch now. SQUEE! It's in four parts, covering the entire thing. Thank you Project Quantum Leap!
Dean Stockwell and Scott Bakula together for the first time in fifteen years!

Date: Sep. 17th, 2010 09:06 pm (UTC)I just flat-out missed it. And yeah, I'm super stoked that so many people came out to see them. I got Scott's autograph on an Archer pic, and he was just so sweet. I really think he was boggled. Maybe this experience will make him do more cons? Who knows?
Anyway...I thought it only ran five seasons? Looks that way on a quick Google?
I know Stargate SG-1 is the longest running sci-fi show ever, with ten seasons (though Smallville rivals now, I think?), so...?
And I want to rewatch, too!

Stargate (The movie, with no other name, starring James Spader and Kurt Russell - you don't have to watch this to "get" the TV show, but why not start at the beginning? This might make you judge the show a bit harsher (ie, why is Jack a bit different, etc?) but I don't think so.)
Stargate SG-1 (The main TV series, which ran ten years.)
Stargate The Ark of Truth (The DVD movie with concluded the main SG-1 storylie after the show was cancelled.)
Stargate Continuum (A stand-alone DVD movie which followed.)
Stargate Atlantis (A spin-off series that started when SG-1 was in its eighth or ninth season. Can stand alone. Can watch after completing SG-1 or do like it ran and watch concurrently with the latter seasons of SG-1, but that would be hard, I think.)
Stargate Universe (Another spin-off. Only in its second season now.)

Date: Sep. 17th, 2010 10:20 pm (UTC)Stargate - honestly, it's been ages since I've seen it. I saw it in the theater and liked it but it didn't rock my world.
SG-1 - Season one is pretty weak to downright ludicrous in places, but it's livable and has its moments of greatness, too. It did hook both my hubby and I instantly and we watched at least two eps a night until we caught up (we watched it on DVDs that lemonpiefirefly so graciously loaned us), which was season seven. Seasons two through seven (yes, even six, you Daniel types - shut up and don't spoil) are quite enjoyable. At about season eight, things start to get a bit iffy but are still good. Season nine, IMHO, stinks with a few VERY notable exceptions (there are a few episodes with truly rock, but overall it's not so good - then again, I've only seen it once and it might be that I was very biased against it at the time - no really). Season ten is better again, but still no seasons two through seven.
Atlantis - Seasons one through three are very good. There are some eps in there to die for, and I loved the whole thing, minus a certain episode. Season four is weak for many reasons. Season five is better again. In fact, it was better enough that I was shocked SGA was canceled.
Universe - meh. It's alright, but...meh. The second half of season one was much better than the first, but it still isn't doing a lot for me. It's a very, very different SG show, though, and so franchise fans are a bit disenchanted, I think. It feels like DS9. So different from established Gate that Gaters are having a hard time with it. But non-Gaters seem to like it, so...whatever. I like some aspects of it enough to stick with it, I think, but again, it doesn't rock my world.
Ark of Truth - decent conclusion to the series, but the main story arc of seasons nine and ten was not OMG awesome, so it's just alright, I think. Teal'c rocks in it, though.
Continuum - quite a decent little adventure stand alone.

Date: Sep. 17th, 2010 10:29 pm (UTC)Oh, and for the record, I owe my entire fandom life to Stargate SG-1. Just had to put that out there.
Sure, I Trekked before, and attended cons and everything, but it was Stargate that changed my life, because it was Stargate that made me put fingers to keyboard and put myself out there. It was Stargate that inspired me to write my first fanfic. And it was Stargate that led me to Dragon*Con and so many of my friends. Heck, it led back to Trek and it even gave me to Firefly.
I am in its debt.
So yeah. I think it's pretty good.
