jackwabbit: (Mal/Inara-Drink Up!)

The rum's gone, you say?  Well, can't have the crew not sharin...

Gotta keep up morale...

Keelhaul the drunkards!

I don't have a keel to haul you on, so...I'm just gonna steal from myself.

“I could shoot the lot of ya for insubordination, or I could join ya in a drink...and forget all about this little incident. Now, shootin’s fun, but it means cleanin’ up after, and I ain’t never much liked cleanin’, so I propose a whole lotta drinkin’ before I change my mind.”

Three things:
1-it can be argued that voodoo is one word.
2-I do believe you were far more susceptible to the voodoo curse than I when last we encountered it.
3-For the last time, there is no rum in that drink!

3- Duh, but of course

It's just when I last had a little too much Cap'n in meh

Yeah, like RUM! And um...beer...and um...more RUM.

As for the remembering, that might depend on which captain, eh?

One word, my friend, one word: sancrosanct.

Nice quote-back! Thanks!

Aye, but here's the real rub:
Can you name all the quotes in this here message?
There are four direct quotes, and three references.

I'll give you the references, as some of them are a bit of a stretch. Pirates of the Caribbean (Why is the rum gone?); cult classic saying (The beatings will continue until morale improves.); old sailing tune (What do you do with a drunken sailor? Put him in a longboat 'til he's sober!)

But the quotes, nope...you're on your own, and they're direct but range from blazingly easy to pretty damn hard.

(Hint: movie, tv show, Jimmy Buffett, and jackwabbit fic.)

A pirate's life for me!

I have a light fascination with the Golden Era of Piracy, so those references weren't a stretch at all. That, and the city where I attended college was a port town frequented by Blackbeard back in the day, and while I was there I got a "The beatings will continue..." sticker for my car. *snickers* Blazingly easy--as you said--with my experiences.

But with the direct quotes, I got:

“I don't have a keel to haul you on, so...”
-episode “Safe” from “Firefly”

“I'm just gonna steal from myself.”
-“Party at the End of the World” by Jimmy Buffett

“I could shoot the lot of ya for insubordination, or I could join ya in a drink...and forget all about this little incident. Now, shootin’s fun, but it means cleanin’ up after, and I ain’t never much liked cleanin’, so I propose a whole lotta drinkin’ before I change my mind.”
-One of your fics... I think. This is really a wild guess. :p

I'm not sure which movie you were referencing besides POTC, but you do have a very funny Captain Morgan/LOLcat pic there! XD

OH! That's right! I forgot you were down there by ncb! East Carolina for school, then, eh? Excellent!

Right on the Mal quote, of couse, though your fingers betrayed you and typed 'Safe' instead of 'Ariel'.

Right on the JB line...did you actually know that or did you Google it? Cuz that's cheating, you know...and that song isn't the most common of knowledge.

And yep, the last one is from one of my fics...I won't tell you which one yet, in case someone else wants to stab at it.

And lastly, the other movie is the most obvious of all, but I'll leave that open, too. When LPFF comes back to this thread (and she will), it's like as not she'll get it. It's not sci-fi at all, though.

Nah. I'm not a ECU Pirate (ironically), I'm a UNCW Seahawk. ;)

I can't believe that I typed "Safe"! I meant to say "Ariel". Y'know, the scene where Mal locks Jayne in the airlock and cracks open the hatch while they're exiting atmo because Jayne had sold out River and Simon to the feds. (MAL: You turn on any of my crew, you turn on me!!) That scene. Oh, well. I blame it on the allergy medicine that I'm taking right now. It's making me kinda drowsy.

I cheated on the JB line and Googled it. :p I'm not a Buffett-head, but then again I haven't had the chance to really be exposed to a lot of his work. I'm heard "Margaritaville" a lot though. That's a great song!

And, I'm guessing the movie quote is, "Keelhaul the drunkards!" I think I'll take a stab at this too and guess that it comes from Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World.

Ah, close enough on the school-it was worth a guess.

As for Safe vs Ariel, please note that I said your fingers betrayed you...I so know you knew that. We ALL know that. But we also ALL misspeak occasinally. *G*

As for JB-cheater! But a fesser-upper, too, so I'll take it! And I understand that not everyone is a Parrothead-we can't all be perfect. (Insert sarcasm alert here, please.)

As for the movie quote, great guess and GREAT MOVIE. I'm not a Crowe fan, but I loved that movie for the sake of the young officer and the doctor...long, but loved it.

Wrong, though...but I see ye olde LPFF did not disappoint.

*Big grin*

It seems about as likely that I quoted Dr. Willard above as that Nathan Fillion will walk into my office and hand me a check for a million dollars...

(Hey, it could happen...)
