A Twitter update from Wil Wheaton on Majel Barrett Roddenberry's passing:

"We just left Majel's memorial. It was a perfect reflection of who she was: funny, profane, sentimental, unique, and memorable."

Once again, I say:  Boldly go, Majel, boldly go.

From Jimmy's latest blog:  "I think you have to be able to live with yourself before you can even think about living with anybody else, and if that doesn’t work out, then you are back where you started, so it is a good thing to be your own best friend."

That's all, folks.

Former English teachers are joining up with nearly English teachers!

What's a fan to do?  Volunteer, of course!

There's very big news for Kids Need To Read here.

And here we have a lovely Wil Wheaton fanvid - please tell me why it never occured to me to watch Wil fanvids before?  (And any Wil haters can stow it right here and now - you are not welcome here.  I rarely exclude, but don't let the door hit you on the way out.  That's just the way it is.  If you'd like, we can discuss how much we all hated Wesley later, but Wil - oh, no.  You cannot touch him, so don't even try.  Just.  Don't.  Even.  Try.  Ok, I'm done now.  Oh, except that you should know that hating sucks in general and that there's very special Wil-ness coming from me later this month!)

At least for today.  I wasn't planning on posting today.  I got all caught up last night.  Honest.  But somehow I have only just now found my way here, and this simply must be shared.  See, many folks are calling Barack Obama the first geek president here in the States, and if that's the case, he needs a cabinet, right?  Sure, he'll have State and Defense and all those other pesky departments squared away out of necessity, but what about his geek points?  How can he be sure he doesn't roll a one while he's busy being President?

Enter the Secretary of Geek Affairs.  That's right.  The Secretary of Geek Affairs.  Chosen by geeks, for geeks.

I'm sad to see Hermione Granger offed in the first round by Carl Sagan, but experience does count for something, I suppose, and I'm beyond thrilled to see Wil Wheaton squeaking into the second round to face his nemesis, Wesley Crusher!

So go cast your vote!  Make your voice heard!   Cast your fates to They Might Be Giants, or revel in the logic of Spock!  Give it up for Weird Al Yankovich or Douglass Adams!   Throw in with Simon Pegg, Kaylee Frye, or Angus MacGyver!  Support Stan Lee, Felicia Day, or Tom Servo and Crow T. Robot!   Rock the vote, people!

Here It Is!  Go.  Vote.  Be Merry.
