...what the hell is wrong with you? (Unless you're in the UK - you poor bastards!)

You should watch for lovelies like this alone! SPOILERS, obviously. (Episode is "Vampire Weekend.")

You know, I really, really, really tried not to like this show, as I didn't want to be that fan (you know, the "oh, Nathan Fillion's on this show so it must be awesome" fan), but it's really, really, really good. It's the one show hubby and I both love dearly, and I wouldn't miss it! I can't believe it took me this long to share this vid with you non-Castle types!

For me, an actor being on a show is enough reason to check the show out at first, but not enough to stay with it unless it's good. And Castle surprised me. I expected it to be average at best, but it's pretty darn good. That's all I was saying.

Maybe I'm just self-conscious, because when I recently re-watched Drive and Two Guys and a Girl, I found myself completely in love with them. And I'm not sure if it's just because of Nathan, like I lack perspective there, ha ha.
Personally, though, I wouldn't be watching Castle if it starred someone else.

I probably wouldn't be watching Castle if Nathan wasn't on it, either, but that's only because I wouldn't have tuned in to begin with. That's what I was saying above. I'm not a big cop show fan (not that Castle is exactly a cop show) and likely wouldn't have started watching it.

That would have been my loss. Castle's writing is great, the supporting cast is fabulous, the bromance between Espasito and Ryan is great, etc, etc, etc. With a different leading man, it might have been a different show, but it might have been very similar - that gets into that whole debate about writing versus acting and which one is more important in the definition of a character (it's both - which is why casting is so important), and we so don't have time for that. Bottom line? It works now, and that's all that matters.

Again, all I meant was that I expected it to be average at best and that Nathan might have been the only thing in it I liked. Most likely, that would not have been enough to keep me watching (or would have kept me watching only out of ninja duty but not made me a huge fan like I am now). But instead, almost against my will (I really did try hard not to like it/I judge it harshly, because no one likes that fan) I find myself really liking it for lots of reasons - not just Nate. (Actually, in many scenes, particularly in the beginning, the Castle smarm was overdone, and it was the other characters that kept me in it. Now, though, thankfully, the writers seem to have found their balance.)

I guess I'm kind of the opposite, my enjoyment of Castle is mostly dependent on the Castle Smarm.
