Prop 1 in Maine looks to have gone the way of Prop 8 in California. The legs of my legislature have been amputated, like those of California's court. This is a travesty, and I am embarrassed by it.

I hate that I was right about this. Still, though hate and fear won today, I do not believe they will win forever. This majority was only 52.9 percent of the vote. That's something. Fear has won this battle, but I hope not the war. As for me, well... I might have been on the losing side - still not convinced it was the wrong side.

I can only hope that one day my Supreme Court or my President will prove that. To tomorrow!

I have my doubts about your human being status...
You've been peeking! You've seen me in the morning, before I get coffee!!

And truly, Vive la Canada!

My gut says it won't be the Supreme Court -- or, at least, not until we've gotten legal status in a critical mass of individual states. True progress is going to happen when the current crop of people between the ages of 15 and 30 become the movers and shakers, the makers of laws and the deciders of mainstream attitude. That's the group that is deeply mystified by all the fuss over why the plumbing has anything to do with the heart.

"Deeply mystified" is correct. There are many issues for which I can wiggle and writhe out of my skin and manage to see the other side enough to kind of 'get it', even if I may vehemently disagree.
The ONLY bits to this I can remotely get are fear of change and fear of the unknown.
There isn't a single logical argument to this. At all.
This is absolutely a human rights issue, given its protected legal status, and majority rule WITH MINORITY RIGHTS!!! Hello!?! Ring a damn bell?
*I will calm down. I will calm down*
*who am I kidding?*

I'm too busy NaNo'ing right now to make a qualified statement here, BUT...I just want to use this icon again. That's all. Ahem. Yes, just using the icon. Ahem.

Well, the icon rocks. I've always loved it. *G*

And, ahem, you haven't yet clarified your remark on your doubts about my status as a human being. Hrrmmmm???

It's simple, my dear. You are far to witty to be a simple human.

No one could be so lovely and be all homo sapiens.

Um. Oh. *iz pink* How about being a complex human?

I promise, I'm not played by identical twins, nor am I actually a cyborg. Um, I'm just me.
