SGU Episode 3
Oct. 18th, 2009 08:26 pmSPOILERS!
Ok, here we go again:
---
Did anyone else feel like they were watching Letters from Pegasus?
Oh, hey! A Peter Deluise cameo!
Oh, they're describing a planet with one side of constant light and the other dark - it's The Broca Divide!
Having the characters going through caffeine withdrawal and such was a nice touch.
Oops! Telford's still a dick
And...TJ still rocks!
Scott is starting to feel a bit more like Shep. That might be good. Or not.
I'm really starting to dislike Chloe, the Senator's daughter. She's worthless.
But Young? I'm staring to like him more. Lines like "plunk your ass down" and "wrong turn - you going to stick with that story?" and "go help now" and "with a few notable exceptions" are endearing him to me.
The big chested girl is...big chested. She might be cool, though, or not. She might be annoying the crap out of me.
I was a bit confused as to why Rush was in the big chair on the bridge. Why wouldn't Scott be there? Isn't he the pilot?
Oh! They mentioned the ATA gene! Thank you! (I need to rewatch this to see if they were correct about it, but hey...it exists, apparently.)
Chloe and Eli is just made of ick.
Once again, spaceship designers prove they can't think ahead - no seatbelts!
I kept thinking that Shep or Sam could've fixed everything (when they were talking about the turbulence and getting too close to the planet and such). Sigh...
Honestly, I might have been a bit too foggy in the head (I have a cold) to properly digest this ep, but I wasn't engaged at all. It was just what was on before Sanctuary. I was honestly just like WTF the whole time.
Which brings me back to leadership...
(If you get that, I love you for it. If not, you're on your own.)

You can always start over, you know!

Liked Young finally. Chloe is irritating the bejesus out of me right now also.
And I swear to FSM, if they don't try body-swapping McKay, Daniel, or Carter on there soon to get them un-locked-out of the controls for the ship, I'm frankly going to kind of stop feeling bad for them. If Rush's ego is so big they can't try outsourcing for some real help (even if it fails because "it's just too ancient it works totally differently than anything I've ever seen"), I am going to have a hard time giving a rat's ass. I mean, all they can swap for is a military hard-ass, not someone who could offer technical assistance? And how many of those do they have, anyway? I seem to recall Chloe out-of-body with her mom during Telford's last appearance.
I was major "meh" on this episode. I am dangerously close to an SG-1/SGA rewatch.
PS it is both nice and annoying to see the Firefly stylistic bits- end of Air part 3 with the music and the pullback out the window, and then the "realcam" follow with "focus adjust" on the 'slingshot move' in this ep.
