SPOILERS FOR SGU INSIDE!

---

So, to make my life simple while watching, I made a tidy list. Wins and losses.

And away we go! Super quick and off the cuff, as I have to work in the AM and my hand hurts.

WIN:

Minor chords right off the bat. Go Joel Goldsmith.

People getting super-accelerated coming out of the gate. Sigh...the good old days...

"We're here. That happened." *squee* Got to love direct quotes from the classics.

Beaming Eli from his house Thor style. We learned from the best.

Seeing the Hammond. Thank you for that. God, I miss him.

Eli's pants line was cute. Silly, but cute.

The Dr. Daniel Jackson videos! OMG Awesome! I can see that plain as day! Like in "200." The answer to everything! The most important question in the universe! AHAHAHAHA!!!

The scene in the mess with Chloe and Eli was cute. Classic bumbling idiot genius, that Eli.

F-302s FTW!

Sam looked great, and seeing her in command of the Hammond was nice. Like in "The Last Man." Sam not fucking around makes my day.

Tel'taks! Rail guns! And motherships! Oh, my!

And look! There's Walter! *squee*

The ancient communication stones! WIN, WIN, WIN! Ok, this was brilliant. Nice continuity and actually a real use, and the Colonel having the foresight to bring them along? Fabulous. I am intrigued by whether or not Rush used them, too...some actual intrigue here. Hm...

Dr Lee! Need I say more?

Nice continuity with Lucien Alliance. How convenient.

Huh. Seeds in the supplies. Someone was thinking.

Am I the only person who thinks Eli's little camera ball MALP thing is Apophis-vision? Or, you know, a Jedi training remote?

I liked the chat Eli and Scott had in the hall about both of them being clueless.

I enjoyed that Rush knew chemistry.

I liked that Chloe tried to beat the shit out of Rush and Eli just watched.

Oh! Nice SGA tunage! Like in Lost City. Nice.

I loved the fact that the Colonel (what was his name?) told Scott to watch Rush in the exact way Jack told Teal'c to watch RepliCarter back in the day...you know, in Gemini.

Rush's speeches might have been win. Or might not. Not sure.

Explaining why the peeps didn't just beam to the Hammond - thanks for that. That was in losses until you fixed it. Thanks, Sam.

LOSS:

No theme song, dammit! Seriously, we wants our themes!

Guest stars in the credits, so there were no surprises. Sigh...

How in the hell is Jack O'Neill suddenly a LIEUTENANT General? Three stars in five years? Am I forgetting something?

I don't think I like the whole "gritty" thing. It just feels dirty. And stupid. The sexy thing doesn't do anything for me, either. Just...dumb.

Seriously, killing a doctor in Stargate. It's not cute anymore, guys. It's just cliche.

Again, nice continuity, but no one cared about the Lucien Alliance before, much less now.

Why would three military peeps make up one team when obviously there are more civvies and non-coms around. I'm thinking one officer per team makes much more sense, no?

Oh! An IOA bitch? That's original. Nice to know some things never change.

Nice iPhone plug. Twice. At least.

Why wouldn't Rush be able to run nine searches at once? What is he, a pussy? Where's Rodney McKay? Or hell, let Sam beam down for a bit and none of this would have happened! Oh, I know, I know. Trying for less super powers in our heroes. They have to be darker, more human, all that. Whatever. The guy's clearly not up to snuff.

I don't care about these people - the drama isn't cutting it. Or if it is, it ain't much.

---

And there we have it. While the wins outnumber the losses, most of the wins were pure nostalgia squee for someone who ate, slept, and breathed Stargate for the past several years. As for this original show, I'm not sure. I like Eli alright. Everyone else? I'm not sure I care.

We'll see.

It wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be.

It will likely get a few more episodes before I make a decision one way or the other.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to The Complete History of the Stargate Program, in seventy-two episodes, narrated by Doctor Daniel Jackson. *BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAA!*

I haven't seen your list much since I haven't posted mine yet but I glanced through and saw this (the sex scene with Scott and the chickie). Apparently, in the UK they edited this bit out of the pilot when it was shown and Brian Jacob Smith who plays Scott is a twitterer I follow and he said it was "important later on" so he was irritated it was cut.

hmm...I hope to hell that doesn't mean they get her preggers on a later storyline or I will be very, very annoyed.

Well, they appear to be trying to ship Scott with the Senator's daughter, so maybe it's an issue with some tension there. Or perhaps she is pregnant. I think that would actually be cool. I mean, so often in shows there are no consequences for sex, so...why not? Of course, it wouldn't have happened in that specific interlude, but...why not? And it might be interesting to see how Scott reacted to that, with his misplaced sense of honor, esp if he does develop feelings for the other girl. Does that sound a bit soapy? Yes. But that's not all bad.

Huh.

Oh, not to mention, having children on the ship does have to happen eventually in order to sustain the population. Just ask Naomi Wildman (first child born on Voyager).

I wouldn't care one way or the other. Guess we'll have to wait and see.
