Stargate Fan Awards - Winners Announced!

Wow! I so expected not to "win" any category this year, and lo and behold, three awards have come my way! Thank you, thank you, thank you to those who liked these works enough to nominate them and vote on them! I'm truly touched.

And the winners are:

This one amazes me. While it's very special to me personally, I didn't think it would have a broad enough appeal to do well. That said, there was no way I could have cut it from the competition, as it is near and dear, and frankly who doesn't love Sam Carter as a linebacker?

Happy, happy, happy sigh...this one means the world. Since most of this story involves an original character, I've always been a bit surprised by its reception in the fandom. OCs have a tendency to not do so very well, and understandably so. We all read fic to see more of the characters we love, and OCs often stand in the way of that. So this win fills me with glee. The fact that my fellow fans can appreciate this story for what it is and can "get" my main character makes me beyond happy. I remember when I wrote this fic - young Kyle just grabbed me and took me on his journey. That journey happened to involve Jack O'Neill and Daniel Jackson, but it was Kyle who wrote this fic, and it is Kyle who gets the credit here. Also, I would be remiss if I did not mention that arctict supplied one of my favorite convention moments of all time because of this story, so once again...wow.Thank you.

Ah, the beast. Nice to know someone appreciates this story, because nearly killed me. All 52,000 words of it. Actually, I am rather proud of CD, because it is my longest story and because it did take me over a year to write (with a very long hiatus) and because Shifu is just so much bloody fun, but since this fic was up against serious novel writers like Travelling One, this kills me! I'm truly honored and beside myself with squee!

Now, lest ye think it's all about me, let's see how The Happy Place did in general!

And now, a special announcement. I'm going to do something I don't do here. I'm going to admit one of my own nominations. This fic is one of my all time favorite Stargate fics, and I'm proud to have nominated it. It's CJ's By The Pricking Of My Thumbs. The fact that it won makes me think sometimes the voters get it right after all. Congrats, CJ. Still love this fic, and I do still have ideas for that crossover with my fic that you graciously permitted. Oh...perhaps the SG bunnies are biting again. I haven't thought about that in a long time...thanks, CJ.

Also, I find it quite interesting that I won best Sam/Other ship last year and my dear lemonpiefirefly won this year.

Oh, the wheel in the sky keeps on turning! And rightfully so. After all, spinning is so much cooler than not spinning.

Thanks, luv. Honestly, CD is a really big deal to me, for obvious reasons. And if you recall that A Long Road Home was in a seriously nasty category, well...that means much, too. A Game to Remember, frankly, is so unique as to be odd for most, so I'm just flabbergasted but honored there.

And as for you, young lady:

The Flame is a good fic, Beck. Honestly, I would tell you if it was total crap. It's not. It's good. You did a good job with it. I didn't read your competition, because I don't vote for fic, but I suspect this fic can stand on its own anywhere.
