There's much sympathy for those of the piratey persuasion in these waters. The skull and cross bones is a symbol of welcome and good cheer.


East Carolina University's mascot is a Pirate. The campus is 30 minutes from my house. Too bad they lost the grudge match with the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill (my alma mater)today. Many a mug of rum drowned sorrows in my community this afternoon.
