Greatest Ships of All Time!
Jul. 21st, 2009 09:50 pmStole this one from
rangersebulba, and I'm continuing in his tradition of being non-traditional!
All right, this one goes like this: Pick your five top all-time favorite ships. If you can, find a clip of the ship and post it, along with the reason they are in your top five favorites.
5-The Snark
Jack London's sailboat - I mean, really, she was called The SNARK! Do I really need to say more?
Like most things from her time, she's gone.

But not forgotten!

4-The Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird
Close enough, dammit. She touched space, mates, and no one flying today can touch her. No one.

(Of course, that's only if you believe they're all mothballed now...) *wink*
3-The NCC-1701-D (Yep, that Enterprise).
When I was in high school, the goings-on on this ship were basically my life. She's brought more joy to me than I can say.

2-The Incom T-65 X-Wing Starfighter
You can keep your Falcon, Han fans. Us Jedi types prefer the fighter, thanks.

1-Serenity.

SFX Magazine: If you were a spaceship from a TV show or movie, which would you be (and why)?
wabbit: Serenity, because even Incom's best X-Wings don't have a comfy couch.

Oh, yes. It always boils down to those two. But in the end, there can be only one.
PS-bonus to whoever can name this baby, with the exception of
lemonpiefirefly , who is not allowed to play. This gorgeous girl would be in here if she was, in fact, a ship and not a plane. (Now THAT would've been HARD - the Eagle, the Phantom, the Warthog, and this sweet sister. (Both this plane individually and her model in general-though there is great debate about her actual designation: flying boat or floating plane? I really don't need that kind of controversy here. I'll just let it go, though I do have my preference on the matter.) Seriously, though, planes would be tough!)

Ok, ok, ok! Twist my arm why don't ya? This one would be #2 and the Phantom #1! Sheesh!

Date: Jul. 22nd, 2009 06:24 am (UTC)I think mine would have to be: the Atavist, the Enterprise, Challenger, the Lady Washingotn, and #1 would be Swallow from Arthur Ransome.

Shocker.

Date: Jul. 24th, 2009 11:44 pm (UTC)Should have told me not to play either, Cap'n. I know planes like you know trains.
That type of aircraft is considered an Amphibian. Wheels for runways and a flying boat hull for the water.

Date: Jul. 25th, 2009 12:10 am (UTC)Lemonpie only didn't get to play because she knows what a huge JB fan I am and how I named my horse Hemisphere Dancer and how the only rules I have for JB concert t-shirts are that they must list the tour dates and have said plane on them, etc.
Yeah, it's like that.
I love that plane.
I'm sad to see her part of Margaritaville Orlando, but I understand. Have you heard about the new Grumman line starting production? Very exciting stuff.
I have loved sea planes since fourth grade...sigh...
Just...love them.
Only plane that beats them for me is the F-4. I was briefly infatuated with the F-14 and F-15, and I do so love that Blackbird, but nothing touches the F-4. *drat! deleted my Gunfighters icon! no matter...366th TFW FTW!*
