Oh.  I.  Beg.  To.  Differ.

And so do these little ones.

Here's another post to show off PJ Haarsma, who recently did a book signing at a Barnes and Noble.  Several kids showed up in their PJs to support  PJ's Softwire series, and well, there were fangirls.  Start them young, I always say...after all, Kids Need To Read.  Aliens and scifi and girls in PJs, OH MY!

*wrinkles brow* Who said that girls aren't into sci-fi? Because I also beg to differ.

Very common misconception, is all. Let's face it, the stereotype of a sci-fi fan is the heavier, geekier, socially inept male. We all know that's false, but...it persists.

Now, in recent years, 'geekchic' has made that stereotype more acceptable, but it is still commonly believed that kids aren't 'cool' if they're into sci-fi, etc.

In fact, sci-fi as a literary genre is often miscontrued as not very popular in children's literature.

Oh!

I just realized what kind of people run those companies. They need to get out of their mansions.

(thinks about one of the very few great bits from Hathor...though I think it doesn't deserve the crap it gets, as an episode... Sam: "Wow! That's a miracle" Jack: "Crunches" is enough to redeem it, say I)
The part where the women just get going, and Sam knocks out Hammond saying something akin to "Well, there goes my career"

Priceless!
PS proof of Fangirling in icon

The entire scene in the detention cell is enough for me! Yes, Hathor is a lame episode, but little Janet with a gun is all I need for some squee! And there's no fangirling at all in my icon. Nope. Not one bit.

P.S.-over on his FB, Tim Minear recently posted his "What Firefly Character Are You?" test results.

You guessed it: Wash.
