It wasn’t just what it could do, though that was a miracle in itself.

Nor was it how shiny and bright it was, though that was impressive too.

And it wasn’t even the appealing shape or how clean its lines were.

No, it was more than that.

Rok didn’t know how she knew that, but she did.

As surely as she knew her name, she knew the little gold emblem in her hand meant more.

How much more would take time to find out.

But find out she would.

For that little gold emblem meant Starfleet.

And Starfleet meant hope.
