Summary: Dal isn’t sure what to call his new “friends.” Good thing he’s a pretty quick study.
Note: Written for the Thirty Days of Prodigy prompt of “friendship.”

Dal had always done pretty well on his own.

Nearly made it out and everything.

If he’d kept trying, he’d have gotten there eventually.

But somehow, he’d gotten out now.

And he had a ship – a whole, gigantic ship – to himself.

Well, not all to himself.

He had friends now.

Or maybe not friends.

Colleagues?

Crewmates?

Whatever the terminology, the point remained.

He wasn’t alone.

And that mattered more than the ship, somehow.

Dal was sure of that, even if he didn’t know the right words right now.

But he’d learn, and in time, only one word would do.

Family.
