Dear “Peter” :
Fine.
I believe you.
But before you get all full of yourself, let’s get one thing straight.
It wasn’t you that convinced me.
Not entirely, anyway.
Because it’s bad enough that I’m stuck here.
That I can’t get home and everything is all mixed up.
That half the time I don’t even know where here is or if it might actually be home after all.
It’s enough to make my head spin, but for that to be literal just isn’t fair.
Because on top of everything, I really don’t need this headache and nausea.
Then again, the way things are all blurring together, I guess I should be grateful for it.
Because I know what it is, and it tells me where I really belong, more than any hallucination could.
Because it happened back home sometimes too.
Because even when I don’t know which end is up, I know my addiction is real.
So is my withdrawal.
And even with all the advanced tech here, they can’t help me.
Only one thing can, and you can bet your sweet ass I’d cross universes for it.
Because God, what I wouldn’t give for a cup of coffee.
Or five.
