Some have chosen to take this fic as J/D, with Sam friendship with both of them. Whatever...like I said, I'm an equal opportunity kind of girl. My very favorite genre is Jack/Daniel friendship or that ambiguous 'friendship plus' without going all the way to slash (same as with ship-I don't like it to be spelled out or in my face or overt).
I have heard of First Prime but not read it. I suspect it is wonderful, but to be honest, I read very little fic-and that I do read is short. I just can't do the big ones. I'm amazed that I've even written a few long ones (to be fair, I enjoy writing them much less than writing shorter stories, too). Snaking doesn't squick me, but many other things do (ie, OOC actions or words, the idea that they all lived happily ever after just because character A got with character B-no matter what characters those are, graphic sex without proper motivation, established relationships-for the most part, etc).
I understand completely on comfort zones. I never thought about S/T until I did it, and now I can't help but love it. My favorite Daniel pairing is actually Daniel/Weir. I haven't written it yet, but just the idea very much appeals to me, and that one hit me out of the blue. My comfort zones seem to be static for a while, then jump all over the place. I used to HATE, HATE, HATE Vala more than anything, but she's grown on me, and I've even written a Daniel/Vala fic now (never saw that coming, but since I love DanJan, and everyone seems to have forgotten about Cassie-I just had to go there).
But anyway...off I go for now, and as always, to each their own.
