The Day the LOLCats Died
Jan. 18th, 2012 10:08 pmYou see this? THIS is why I oppose SOPA and PIPA.
Because I don't want to imagine a world where people can't make parody songs about LOLCats and post them to YouTube.
I saw this video this morning via Twitter. I laughed, because it's cute (if not musically perfect), but I didn't laugh a lot, because it addresses a serious issue. If you don't know about SOPA and PIPA, do yourself a favor. Learn about them. Personally, I find Wil Wheaton's blog on the subject to be right on, though I'll admit it's biased to my own point of view. And if you can handle a little crude humor, then check out The Oatmeal's stance. But seriously, if you enjoy any type of user-generated content on the web, these bills could alter your life substantially. The joke that the might "break the internet" is no joke. So, if you like your fanfic and your YouTube and your Twitter account, please consider contacting your representatives in Congress. Do it for the kittens. I have. There are few issues on which I truly take a stand, but censorship is a hot button with me for sure. That's a negative, Ghostrider. Pattern is full.*
*And yes, while we're at it, I AM ashamed of the NDAA, too. Sigh.
