I happened upon the mal_stillness com a while ago. Been browsing their icons for a bit. They have weekly contests based on themes, see. That's generally not so appealing to Photoshop noobs like me, but last week's contest wasn't Mal-based. Instead, the theme was Nathan Fillion. (Reminds those few who need it that there is a difference.) So...I just had to make a new icon and enter it! It'll look a bit familiar to some, but I'm quite fond of my new starfield and the new layout. Anyway, I won the mod's choice award! Shiny!

Rumors and Not So
Feb. 11th, 2009 09:07 amA little bird with feathers of a brownish color attended a small Joss Whedon panel at a New York City Apple Store yesterday and now it's singing. Apparently, Joss himself has confirmed that both Alan Tudyk and Felicia Day will be appearing in his new show Dollhouse. This Felicia tidbit brings to mind a post I've meant to make for a while.
If you don't watch The Guild, watch The Guild.
If you're into the internet, geek culture, or (especially) gaming at all, this show will make you LOL or maybe even LYAO or ROTFL. And the episodes are roughly 6-8 minutes long. Not much to invest and easy to watch between other things. (Which is online entertainment's best draw for me. Sitting down for an hour, or even half an hour, is tough for me. Besides, Felicia Day is Wil Wheaton's friend, so...yeah.)
Felicia and her supporting cast are outstanding, and much like its superstar little brother Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, The Guild is all about putting the power in different hands. It's original online television, and it's as independent as it gets.
Take a peek. If you like what you see, have a seat and stay a while.

A conversation between Wil Wheaton (the dad talking at his son's back) and his son (the teenager on the internet), circa 2006 or so. The son is downloading sound files from a favorite show and the dad mentions he did that for The Prisoner 'back in the day.' This follows:
"What's The Prisoner?" He said.
"A show that I love, that I don't think you're geeky enough to enjoy."
He clicked his mouse, and iTunes fell silent.
"Wil," he said, "you didn't think I'd like Firefly."
"Touche," I said with a smile. "Any time you want to watch The Prisoner, I am so there."
Entire conversation can be found here.
"We ended up watching a whole lot of The Prisoner together before he went off to college, and we watched a lot of Twin Peaks, The Twilight Zone, and The Outer Limits, too. I meet grown-up kids and their parents all the time these days who tell me that watching Star Trek together was important to them, and after watching these shows with my own kids, I totally understand what they're talking about."
Yup. Pretty much. Do something with those you love. Anything. Later, all.
Then I'll Learn How To Fly!
Feb. 11th, 2009 10:55 amOk, so I'm off today...and apparently going to post like crazy. I'm trying to pare down my 'list of things to post' list, but I keep finding new fun stuff! And this, well...this just has to be done. Behold! One of my favorite scenes from Star Trek: The Next Generation EVER.

Fanboys Release Expands!
Feb. 11th, 2009 03:14 pmDue to overwhelming response for its limited eight city release, Fanboys is coming to ten more cities (including one a little closer to me!) February 20. WOOT! It's truly a pity it won't be here this weekend. I might've been coerced into some sort of Valentine's Day dinner and a movie thing if I had this to see! Go Geeks! Here's the preview, btw:
