Son of a Son rocks! It gave us Cowboy In The Jungle! (And if you're feeling suicidal, Coast of Marseilles...one day the world will realize how NOT happy so many of Jimmy's songs are...and his genius as a songwriter will finally come out...sigh...)
I go from Down To Earth to Take The Weather With You. (That's 36 years of albums...the man is nothing if not prolific.)
To be fair, you're not missing tons on the later albums, but there are a few tracks that are worth it. (Like Coast of Carolina and Tonight I Just Need My Guitar and Breathe In, Breathe Out, Move On...IMHO.)
I like It's Five O'Clock Somewhere alright, but I prefer it when Mac MacNally sings it with Jimmy rather than Alan Jackson. But that's just because I LOVE MAC.
I could name great Jimmy tunes all night...I know I left out Come Monday above (that one will always be for Paul McGillion for me!) and many others, but the fact is that I could never name my favorites. So many to choose from. Sure, there are weaker ones, like, um...Math Sucks, but there are so many I love.
Make no mistake, though...if I'm blue, or very, very drunk, nothing but nothing but A1A will do. Preferably with the addition of some other classic true ballads, like Remittance Man and He Went To Paris. I don't have any children, but it's been made abundantly clear to my hubby that if I ever do, there will be A1A present at delivery. Yeah, it's like that.
Wouldn't mind Lovely Cruise at my funeral, come to think of it.
