Nymphadora Tonks’ hair glowed bright orange. It looked like those jackets the Muggles that lived in the country liked to wear when they carried their thundersticks. It was almost glowing.
And then, in an instant, it was jet black.
The change occurred as her lover pushed suddenly away from her.
“Remus?” Tonks ventured into the dark.
No answer.
“Remus? What’s wrong?”
Still no answer save a ragged breath.
Tonks flipped on the light. She took in her lover’s position as far away from her as possible and noted uneasily that he would not look at her. Her hair turned brown. Not again, she thought.
“Remus John Lupin, you will answer me,” she demanded.
Remus nodded shakily. “In a minute.”
Tonks considered that for a second, then nodded. “Alright.”
True to his word, Remus spoke quietly after he sucked in a few more breaths.
“You broke the first rule.”
The look Tonks gave Remus was pure confusion.
Remus finally looked at her and got the benefit of her expression. He grinned slowly and tried to explain.
“Well, for me, anyway.”
Tonks’ expression didn’t change.
Lupin chuckled.
“It’s really quite simple, you know. First rule of sex with a werewolf? No biting.”
