There was always something to do.

Cargo to check.

Gear to pack.

Guns to clean.

Zoe’s mind was always busy with lists of tasks that needed doing.

She didn’t mind.  She liked being busy.

There was only one list she tried not to think on.  Naturally, that list was always on her mind.

Mal had one just like it, historically headed by the word ‘Shadow.’

Zoë’s was now led by the name ‘Wash,’ and she suspected Mal’s was, too.

Zoë watched Mal not eat his dinner yet again.

She added just one more job to her list.

Keep Mal sane.
