Catching Up!

So, it's a snow day here today. (Sweet!) Therefore, I'm catching up on my desktop.

I'm posting things that I've meant to share forever, and trying to clean up my 'to do' list, etc.

This  made me laugh and laugh and I'm not sure why...

This, however, made me a bit sad. Remember, some people sell conch shells to tourists to pay bills.

And this? Well, I thought this was so much more concise than our warnings.

I didn't take a whole lot of palm trees and beaches pictures, because frankly I didn't want to carry a camera with me when I was there. It was all I could do to stumble down to the beach every day. (I've been to Jamaica before. I've done the tourist thing. I had no desire to do that again. I really, truly just wanted to do nothing. And that is what I did. Nothing. It was fabulous.) But rest assured that despite some high seas and a bit of afternoon rain once or twice, it was indeed lovely.

And yes, Pinky went along, as always.

Now, like I said, I've been to Jamaica before. I've done the tourist thing. I've been to Margaritaville and Dunn's River Falls and even swam with dolphins (Do it if you can! It's worth the money!), so I had not much urge to do such things now. However, there was one tour I simply couldn't live without. One things I just HAD to do.

Oh, yes. I had to do dog sledding in Jamaica. Now, I know about dry land training, but those Jamaicans are just nuts, and only they could make it a full time pastime and money-maker. I was so in. My guide was one Damian Robb, who asked how I'd heard about the tour. Gee, I wonder. *grin*

Now, remember. If you ever take this tour, be careful! Some of their dogs are Pit Bulls!

(Actually, a good number of them are Pit mixes, as they are street dogs from the JSPCA - rock on!)

It was a beautiful day for a ride, and even though I've been around dog sledding a fair bit, I've never done a dryland run before in the buggy. It was way faster than I thought it would be!

Oh, yeah. We got filthy and had fun and Damian and I became buddies. He comes my way in the winter to race in sprint races, so we actually know some of the same people. It's a small world, folks!

But alas, I have having issues uploading pics and I have reached the end of my journey regardless, so I'm off for now.

That's all, folks!

"I've never done a dryland run before in the buggy. It was way faster than I thought it would be!"

I bet it was a lot warmer too!

*hugs*

Valid point.

Ours have warnings, too, but they are much more wordy.

Like: "The Surgeon General has determined that smoking during pregnancy can cause low birth weight and poses significant risks to the fetus."

There are others, too. And I saw others in Jamaica, but this one just cracked me up/I appreciated it. Much more to the point.

Yeah should have done the Jamaica thing instead of visiting family in Massachusetts. I left last Alaska in a blizzard last weekend and enjoying another here in MA. Not too bright but got to do the family thing during the holidays.

I thought of you a month ago when I was working oil spill duty on the Alabama coast and drove by the Margarittville Beach Resort. No sign of dog sleds though;) Thanks for sharing your pics!

Oh, dude! You should've told me you were coming this way! Not that the weather wouldn't have interfered in any meet-up plans anyway, but still! *waves from Maine*

Waves back! I'm here for another week and a half. Hopefully the weather lets me get out and about!

Huh. I work pretty much every day, but if you get a free day and want to head north or whatever, let me know! I might could meet up! That would be fun! I haven't seen you since, what, 2007?

So like a lot of great snow-mushing action shots, with snow flying up in the air.
But, you know, with a lotta mud instead.

Great pics, cap

Oh, yeah, man. I was fa-il-thy.
