Dragon*Con News

Because I know that many of you already heard about it, and the rest don't care or can't come to Dragon*Con so will just be sad, I decided not to post here about Patrick Stewart being confirmed as a D*C guest this year.  That is, until dearest Penguin (The Softwire's resident smartass) made me this:

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!  Thank you, Pengy!  You, my dear, are the best! *sends virtual Morena*

I have all-but-decided to go to D*C this year. At first, it was going to be me and a friend from high school I recently reconnected with, but then one of HER friends said he wanted to go, too, and a fourth member of our little D&D group is somewhat intrigued by the idea as well...

Come on down, girl!

I'm going to start a post here in a bit to list off everyone I know who's going so I can try to meet people.

Basically, for me, it's the Stargate fandom and the Browncoats and the KNTR Ninjas. Most of the original HP seem to be going - did you know? We should get together for dinner or something.

A lot of people who be freaking out at you that you need to get a hotel room ASAP and all that (and they have a reason to be that way), but I'm sure you can find something last minute if you have to. A lot of folks bail last minute. There's also a room share com here on LJ and the D*C com is a great help, too.

Since we'd be driving, most likely we'd get a room (or two) farther away from the convention area and drive in for the events. If we're REALLY lucky, we could get a good deal for on a late-cancellation room, but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Right now, it looks like we'd get there late Friday night--my friend and I both have afternoon classes on Fridays--and have all-day Saturday, Sunday, and most of Monday to explore, meet 'n' greet, and otherwise fangirl (and fanboy) our little black hearts out.

You could take MARTA, too...even from further out, to save on finding a parking space and all that.

I'm flying in, obviously, on Thursday morning. Then MARTA to the hotel (Days Inn - an overflow hotel, but close enough) and not leaving until they drag me away late Monday night!

I was in Atlanta last year for an extremely lame conference (not D*C, darn it), and got a travel package which included flight, shuttle transportation, and hotel. If I like it this year and think I want to go to D*C again, I'll probably book something like that in advance.

Good idea.

I bought my plane ticket and reserved my hotel in January, I think.

I got my con ticket a few weeks before that.

Splitting up the costs is nice.

I had a grand mal squeezure when you sent me that message.
Boy, that will require some camping in line to see...

Indeed.

Honestly, though, I'm unsure if it will be worth the camping out.

I shall have to think on this. If it means missing something important or whatever, I can live without it.
