Summary: There are many kinds of treasures in this world. Patrick had a taste of some of the best of them last Christmas. And this year, David will get another type.
Note: No word prompt today. The word was too easy/boring. I may do it later, but who knows? Anyway, I used one of the plot bunnies bouncing around in the pasture.

The store’s profit margins were slim.

That didn’t worry Patrick. New businesses needed time to become profitable.

But he knew he should be frugal.

Still, he’d thought about it.

He’d wanted to splurge.

For David.

But David being David, he threw him a curve ball by throwing his dad a holiday party.

And there went the budget.

So it had to wait.

But that was last year.

Now, the store was doing well, and his boyfriend was his fiancé.

That was worth celebrating.

So Patrick thought about it again.

For all of a minute.

Then he bought the expresso machine.
