They didn’t have to do these types of things often anymore.

Isolation was so twenty-third century.

But alas, here they were: confined to quarters for their sixteenth day while Tracy and the rest of the medical staff tried to figure out why they were covered in tiny red spots.

Still.

At least they didn’t itch.

And at least they were confined to their own quarters, not a statis field in sickbay.

That had been Paul’s doing, of course. The welts had shown up nearly immediately after they visited an unknown planet, and while the biofilters on Discovery hadn’t picked up anything foreign, they’d been whisked off to sickbay right away. And there they had stayed – until Paul so helpfully suggested the same statis field could be set up in another location of the ship.

Tracy had had them beamed to their quarters as soon as Reno had set it up.

So here they were.

Paul and Hugh, with only each other for company yet again.

Well, each other and Ricky.

And thank goodness for that.

Because Hugh asleep on the couch with Ricky tucked snugly under his chin was just cute enough to keep Paul from murdering him.

For now.
